September 2024: our insanely challenging roadmap!

Back to school, writing our insane roadmap!

Here we are with our insanely challenging roadmap this time!! After a long period without publishing on our Rebel Magazine (publishing not, but writing a lot and Max is preparing many hot things as he usually does!) and especially after listing all the things to do for the upcoming and insane autumn, we are ready with many new hot things.

September, back to school! And we are back writing another plan and our roadmap looks insanely challenging this time, but we are absolutely enthusiast for all the news we listed here at K Storm Studio! Ok just let’s jump in to our roadmap so:

Steam Fest October 2024

We mentioned this already in our previous post… yes Wild Radio Flux has been subscribed for the next Steam Fest in October 2024! So happy to write this on our blog! But of course this means an additional bunch of hard work for us, under deadline. Wild Radio Flux is basically 90% finished but a festival and the upcoming release push us always under pressure.

Sep 2024 – Our Forum. We see that our forum platform requires a better and clear design and this is the main reason why our followers do not yet feel inspired to use it. So we also planned to work on it.

Autumn 2025 – Plastigence. This game needs the implementation of our game asset mentioned above. Once done a first demo will be ready in 2025. A wonderful game, a big step of our insanely challenging roadmap.

Dec 2024 – Our 3D game asset we will use as a solid rock for our 3D games in UnrealEngine 5.4 is now closed to have all the required to be a full game. With this asset we can finally boost our 3D games over our imagination.

The Source game. From concept art to 3D enviroment we are studying the best scenarios for this game.

K-Engine. The new release is right at the corner. We know we temporarily removed the engine from download, but we want to share with all users a new version with some new things and replacements, in particular the previous VFX addon, that can make K-Engine ready to produce games. Aside from our games, K-Engine is a big part of our insanely challenging roadmap.

Summer 2025 – Ghost Warrior. Even this game will be probably published in 2025 cause the amount of text and graphic created for it.

Game Assets for VN. You know we are primarely 3D artists but we are constantly producing game asset for visual novels. Why? Because we also loves to create visual novels.

Always possible with our passion!

We are so happy about our achievements, even if they are small! But we know that as you can see above, a lot of work is still at the horizon. A giant mountain to climb? Definetely not! Why? Because our passion about what we do makes everything possible.

This is our upcoming roadmap, this is our work, this is our challenge!

We are more than happy to announce that we will be present at the next October Steam Fest 2024 with our Wild Radio Flux game!

We started developing this game during the pandemic in 2021 from an idea born earlier. At K Storm Studio we basically develop 3D games but Wild Radio Flux is more than just a game for us now.

WRF: never stop dreaming!

With this game, players can relive the golden age of the 80s. Why? Because the game invites them to rediscover the rich pop and geek culture of the past while battling a mysterious force that threatens to plunge the present into apathy and nihilism.

Wild Radio Flux takes players back to a time filled with vibrant music, colors, imagination, and endless fun, a time when people left their homes every day to embark on new adventures, embracing the thrill of life and dreaming of their own unique futures.

Wild Radio Flux taps into our concerns about how big tech companies use small electronic devices to shape and control our lives. Much like the iconic film Back to the Future Part II, this game lets players travel back to 1985, dreaming of a world where we can change our dystopian present, if only through our imagination,

What do we expect?

A lot of fun, emotions and connections! This is our expectation for this October Steam Fest 2024.

Now we are very close to the release date set on 25th January 2025. This game actually represents more than just a platformer game for us. WRF is our connection with the time when games became part of our life.

We love technology only for games. Despite we believe that technology nowadays has been used in such as so many bad ways. Technology now provides powerful tools to control humanity. But we do still believe in the power of games and we just want to use technology for music, games and have fun!

Unreal Engine 5.4: Finally got the features we were waiting for!

The new version of Unreal Engine is now out with many new improvements compared to the version 5.3. Unreal Engine 5.4 is finally available for everyone. In particular, we want to mention the new Motion Matching, a very important tool to make in-game character movements more realistic!

UE 5.4 Introduction – Epic Games

At Epic are working hard about many new improvements for Unreal Engine 5.4 such as lightweight emitters for Niagara particle system, local Fog Volumes, variable rate Shading for Nanite, an improved Parallelism in Rendering. But today I wanna mention other major features that are destin to finally let’s make us incredible in-engine animations and realistic behaviour for our characters.

Motion Matching

A more accurate and sophisticated locomotion animation system which works just selecting the best frame from its database based on the character position and action. Motion Matching based on the Epic introduction, replaces the old StateMachine where everything has to be manually set.

As always Epic has also released an example project with a library of more than 500 AAA motion capture animations also compatible with MetaHuman character rig.

In-Engine Animation System

Finally another big goal has been achieved with this new version. You may know how it is complicated and hard sometimes to animate an entire cinematic scene for instance in Unreal Engine. The entire rigging system is now completely re-developed. Further, many new other tools like the Sequencer has been improved to help the in-engine animation workflow.

Some of the best improvements fro my opinion are:

  • Nanite Displacement: now even the displacement polygons will be processed by Nanite technology.
  • Heterogeneous Volume Shadows: wonderful for advanced realistic VFX.
  • Procedural Content Generator: The fully in-engine Procedural Content Generation Framework has significant improvements, too.

We are so excited about these new features in Unreal Engine 5.4! To be honest, we were waiting for that. Especially in the case of motion matching technology. “The Source” game absolutely needs the implementation of these new technologies. We do believe, as the Epic says, that motion matching will replace the old state machine. Even the new insider rigging system in Unreal Engine 5.4 will be crucial for our development.

Out experience with Motion Matching

We started using motion matching and yes, it is really amazing as expected. However, it is not so intuitive but I think this is because of the lack of animations. At the moment every developer is using the Lyra project animations set but the new motion matching requires to have even more animations to choose from. Epic planned to release a pack of more than 550 animation files in June, so we will update our major asset to have a better TPS gameplay experience for our upcoming 3D games!

It’s time to celebrate:… Happy Holidays from K Storm Studio!

Definitely yes, it’s time to celebrate so many things… :0 🙂 wow! I’m so happy about that! And not just about the Holydays, but also because here at K Storm Studio we finally decided to open our magazine to share all our news with you.

And several great news are coming out in the next year!

I’m Max Capano, founder of the K Strom Studio, a small company with just a passion in mind: make our games!

Wild Radio Flux game project

First we want to announce that we are releasing Wild Radio Flux game on Steam and our marketplace too ready to be wishlisted and out in the early 2024 based on Steam test.

Then as you can see here on our frontpage we are also working on a big stunning game developed in Unreal Engine 5 and using the entire engine potential. The Source game project is started at the end of the hot summer 2023 and it seems to be hot too.

Further, it is also time to celebrate our K-Engine game engine dedicated to develope adventure games and visual novels has been downloaded by more than 800 users despite the pre-alpha release and we are ready to release the new version with many bug fixed and several new improvements.

And last but not least our website platform and marketplace, built for us and everyone who wants to sell their creations and soon even games… I know we only have just few sellers at the moment and maybe you are a bit skeptic yet but we built it using the most safe and best technologies so feel free to join us and make your own store on it… we did it!

The upcoming 2024

The upcoming year will be for us an insanily busy and challenging year but also extremely exiting and fun! In the early 2024 we will release the new version of K-Engine, then Wild Radio Flux is coming out next and we will also release a demo version of The Source game, later in 2024… and maybe something else is coming out from our creativity 🙂 !

So in our little we are trying to do the best as we can and we are very enthusiast about that. And I personally hope you can have fun in following us and enjoy our products and in general I hope that our work can even giving you a lot of fun because this is still the main reason why we do that. 🙂 🙂
