How to Set up a New Game / Product for the Store Page

Title and Permalink

Whether you’re creating a game or other digital asset, the product publishing process starts with a compelling title. Once you have drafted your product, you can eventually edit its permalink. However, the permalink will be automatically created according to your product title.

Product Type

Despite the game creation store page is often a standard process, you may need different options while setting up your product. Here is the list of product type you may set up in your store page:

  • Simple Product: This is the standard product store page creation. You can start with these settings for a product that doesn’t need additional custom attributes or variations and you want to sell it independently.
  • Variable Product: it allows you to create a product with custom variations. To do this, you have to set custom attributes and/or variations in the box below in the same page editor. You can base variations from attributes or create variations without attributes. Each variation can have an additional different image and price.
  • Grouped Product: is a group or bundle of simple/standard products. This is ideal if you need to create a product that contains multiple simple products, like the main game and added DLC.

Developers and Publishers info

You can simply add the developer(s) and publisher(s) names using these fields. If there is more than one, please use a comma to separate them.

Virtual and Downloadable

Ok, K Storm Studio marketplace is a game digital distribution platform, so you don’t have to worry about the shipping process. In this scenario, we can suggest checking the Virtual checkbox for a non-downloadable product like online playable games (although at the moment we can’t provide full support for these type of games).

The Download checkbox, instead, is very important because it shows up the files box. Here you can upload all the required files you want the user to download after purchasing the product. Remember to upload only .ZIP files, as supported by KSS DreamGate desktop application.

Video Gallery

Videos are always one of the best ways to showcase your product (especially for a game) to your customers or any potential new customers. At the moment, you can set a trailer video and a few showcase videos. In case you are publishing a game, we advise adding a gameplay video. A gameplay video is always winning and we strongly advise to always set it up, even if you don’t have or you don’t want to set a trailer.

Despite our technology supporting links from more than one video platform, as well a self-hosted videos, at the moment we have restricted the range to only YouTube videos. Sharing YouTube videos is also best for our vendors to increase their YouTube ranks and discoverability on the YouTube platform. However, it is extremely useful for our vendors to read our session regarding the store page and platform promotions.

Please consider that if you don’t set any videos, this form won’t show up.

Image Gallery

Of course, this is another crucial part of your game store page. The product gallery contains your product gallery images and the cover image as the first image you can upload.

You can set as many images as you want per product, although the common rules are always helpful. A number between 8/10 to 15/20 pictures appears to be the best range to showcase your game and tease your customers.

Image Format

Although the K Storm Studio website is made of software that adapts images based on size and ratio, we strongly recommend uploading images following the resolutions listed below:

Cover and gallery images.

  • 1920 x 1080 pixels
  • 1280 x 720 pixels
  • 960 x 540 pixels

Product Category

Despite K Storm Studio Marketplace allowing vendors to sell K-Engine resources and generic high-quality game assets, it’s primarily focused on games! And games is a special category with many sub-categories. You can set one category per product.

Price and Discount

A very important part of your game publishing process. You can decide the Price range for your game or product that you want to charge. We will advise you on some industry standards.

In case you want to set a Discounted Price for your game. Doing this you, KSS will show both original and discounted price, putting the second more in evidence compared to the original price. If you don’t set any schedule, your product or game will be permanently discounted.

System Options

These options are significant, especially when you publish a game or computer app. You can select the OS your game or app will work on, multiple choices are allowed. then the system specs and hardware.

Brand

A Brand is an additional category for your products, similar to how you use product categories. We recommend that to define your own unique brand and type in this field. This can help your customers to easily filter your product, game or app by brands and navigate your store more easily throughout the search engine.

Tags

Tags are non-hierarchical keywords or descriptive labels that help organize products and improve their searchability. Unlike categories, which create a hierarchy, tags provide a flexible way to group products with similar, specific characteristics across different categories, making it easier for customers to filter and find related items.

Tags can help customers find products when searching for specific keywords or features, such as “action,” “adventure,” or “third person” or “TPS”.

Tags allow customers to narrow down search results based on specific traits.

Tags can also be used to link related products together on your site, which can also help with SEO. However, please consider that a “related product” doesn’t appear in the “Frequently Bought Together” area.

You can choose the tags you want, and you can set as many as you want. However, we strongly recommend staying inside a range of 4 and 20 tags. Setting many tags doesn’t help your game to be easily discovered, and it may also be recognised as spam.

Description

Another important part of the store page is the product description. K Storm Studio Marketplace, like many other e-commerce platforms, provides two types of descriptions.

Short Description: appears at the top/right of your product store page, and it’s limited to 50 words. This text should immediately spotlight the key aspect of your product like for example: “A third-person action survivor based on…” If you don’t set the short description in your product editor, this section won’t appear in the store page.

Description: express what your game is talking about with a longer description. Introduce your game with a compelling story, describe the main gameplay mechanics, introduce the team, and explain why gamers should play your game.

Adult Content Survey

This section is crucial to collect information about your game that can be shared with your customers to inform them if your game contains content that can be sensitive for some of many of them.

Downloadable Options

The essence of K Storm Studio Marketplace: the real products. This is the section that allows you to upload the assets that your customers will download after purchasing. Your products have to be packaged and compressed into one or more .ZIP files format. This is crucial, especially in the case of games, as required by the KSS DreamGate app to download, extract and play KSS games.

You can set multiple downloadable files for your product, but in general, it is always recommended to set one packaged .ZIP file. In detail for a digital product (like e-books, software, audio tracks, or design templates), allowing multiple files sometimes can be needed. For example, in the case of a software package, this might include the installer file and a separate license key PDF or even different software version. Or in the case of a game, this might include different packaged files based on different releases or destination OS platforms.

The option for multiple downloadable files can also be useful if you want to give additional DLC. Please consider that KSS DreamGate app, will install and run the main core file you uploaded, so for additional DLC at the moment, please provide an installer file, always include in a .ZIP file.

K Storm Studio Marketplace also gives you control over the number of times a customer can download their purchased files, and for how long those files will remain available in their K Storm Studio account profile. These options should only be used in some particular, exclusive cases that necessarily need those settings. Our best advice, however, is to leave these settings blank. That gives the full unlimited control to customers to download the products they purchased whenevr they want, even in case they lost or damaged their files.

Linked Products

  • UpSell: are products which you recommend and are related to the main product. These products will appear in the “frequently bought together” section, below your product description.
  • CrossSell: are products which you promote in the cart.

Custom Attributes

Used to set some specific custom attributes.

Discount Options

Discount options settings are different from the discount price above. Discount options are based on a minimum quantity of purchases and a related discount in percentage. In the case of digital products like this marketplace is focused on, this option is particularly used in the case of a software, game or app, that should be bought multiple times with a different license.

Return and Warrenty

Here you can set how many days a product can be returned to you. K Storm Studio Marketplace wants to give you control of it, but we strongly recommend keeping the default settings as a standard in the industry. Your customers are also our customers, and we are constantly monitoring the relationship between vendors and customers to try to create a deep and nice experience for all gamers.

Product Visibility

It determines if your product will be visible in all or some sections of our marketplace, and also on your own store. If you’re game is still under development, and you just want to start creating your store page, but you don’t want to display your game or product anywhere in the marketplace, just scroll to Visibility and select Hidden. This won’t show your game.

Product Access

If setting your product visibility determines whether your product is visible or partially visible, and whether it is published to the marketplace, the product access settings determine how your product page is visible and which elements it shows to your customers.

The Game Class tag has been request since the platform development and it shows a tag to your customers to share what is the nature of your project:

  • None: your project is not yet classified and is intended for a hobbyist project.
  • Student Project: is intended for all projects that have the goal to learn how to make it.
  • Indie Game: created by indie developer(s) or indie studios for commercial purposes, but want to clearly share their indie nature.
  • Commercial Game: is intended as a game created, tested and distributed for commercial purposes.
